    Welcome Teddy Bear Lovers!

Here's Teddy admiring the crocuses. It was March 1999 in Chicagoand it was too cold to go out without a nice warm sweater. Look carefully and you'll see he took his knitting with him.

If you have any problems with my page email Lucia. I will be happy to stop knitting to fix the code!

To create a Teddy Bear sweater, visit the sweater pattern generator.  If you want to make a drop sleeve pullover sweater like the one teddy is wearing here, toggle to "Teddy" toggle under "predefined styles". The page will automatically select the style feature you see on Teddy.

Advice:  Bears vary widely in body types.  The "estimate" function assumes your bear is built like mine!  Here are some features about my teddy, who may be very different from your teddy:

    • My Teddy's head is enormous compared to his body. (He must be smart for a bear!)  The "estimate" function of the program assumes your teddy is built like mine.  But, lots of bears have more normal size heads. Measure your bear's head and correct the dimension if necessary.
    • If your teddy's head is enormous like mine, you may need to add elastic to make the neck snug.  Otherwise, if you want to make the head opening smaller, you need design some kind of shoulder closure.
    • My teddy has really fat stumpy arms compared to his body girth.  Measure your bears arms, and check.
    • Check your teddy's shoulders width. Decide the sweater length for yourself.
    • My teddy's arms are not on the side of his body but sort of in the front.  I use the "arms forward" feature to make the front smaller than the back.  That way the sleeves are near his arms.  If your teddy has arms sticking to the sides, don't choose "arms forward".
    • I advise making a "straight" shaped sweater for teddy's.  They rarely need their sweater to nip in at the waist.
    • You can also make teddy a hat or a head band.   He really likes those.  On the hat page, you'll see that Teddy's hat and sweater don't color coordinate.  Teddy is nagging me for a new sweater!
