Women's Sizes

Two sources exist for women's sizes.  These are: The official US Standard size charts and the sizes that I find match clothes in stores.  I find manufacturers more or less follow the US standardsbut they attach labels with smaller numbers.

Adult Hat and Head Sizes

Measure around your head with measuring tape above your eyebrows and ears.

Children's Sizes

If you have a reference for head measurements vs. age, let me know! I've looked at a bunch of web pages, and they all tell you to use a tape measure to measure your kid's head.  I'll add the information!
I've typed in two numbers.  However, I must warn you: Kid's heads vary in size.  My friend's 4 year old had a 23" head.  That's an adult large!
