WW Recipe Builder
Hey, Weight Watchers has a new “Recipe Builder” that lets you enter your own recipe ingredients and determine the number of points in the recipe. You can read about it here. I’d like a calorie version, since I prefer to track calories.
To use the recipe builder, you need to join WW online which is kind of neat, but costs $65 to the first 3 month plan. The program has other features– but I don’t really feel a need for an online tool to track my weight loss progress. (Do other people?)
Try www.fastgrocerylist.com. Be sure to sign the guestbook. It is free. I am an out of work, overweight, information systems person. This project is a hobby you may find useful.
Be sure to share your recipes. You can enter your recipe and 24-hours later the calories and sugar counts (among other things) are listed.
Share your ideas for improvements.
Glenn Thaxton (1 comments.) - June 2nd, 2007 at 12:17 pmHi! I tried WW online, but it didn’t really hold my motivation. Sometimes I am not near a computer all day, and I found tracking to be a pain.
I also found the source of support (the message boards) kind of cliquish and sometimes quite mean.
Me (1 comments.) - June 2nd, 2007 at 6:21 pmGlenn, It’s a nice idea and I signed in. However, the interface is a bit cumbersome.
Ingredients generally are written in this order:
1 Cup Flour
So, number, unit of measure, item.
Also, I don’t know if other people want to bother using the pulldown menu to say where things are purchased, but I don’t. (Expecially not for salt, pepper, water etc.)
Why not just let the person add optional notes?
Lucia - June 4th, 2007 at 11:23 amLucia, Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll make the changes suggested. I work on this site as time permits, so changes may take a few weeks. As far as the pulldown, while cumbersome -it is used to produce a grocery list and is needed to break the list down to section of store. This is a work in progress, and a hobby, all ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
