Uses or Lose it! People Slim As They Age

People who maintain a vigorous lifestyle stay more slender as they age! Honestly, I’m not too surprised by this. But sometimes what seems to be common sense knowledge needs to be proven.

Turns out Paul Williams of Lawrence Berkely Laboratory recently completed a first-of-its-kind study that tracked a runners as they aged. Thow who maintain a vigorously active lifestyle gain less weight as they aged.

Meanwhile, Williams and Paul Thompson of Hartford (CT) Hospital did a different study and found that runners who increased their running mileage gained less weight than those who remained sedentary, and runners that quit running became fatter.

So, yes, exercise helps you keep your weight down!

  1. Wow that cool to know. :) I don’t exercise as much as I should, but I do stay active with my dogs and chase them around the agility course. I did jog for a while, but then got tired of it. 2 years I jogged, my BC wants to go again.
