Scientists find new fat gene!
Researchers have found another gene that may keep you from fitting in your jeans. You can’t blame this gene, named FTO, for all the extra girth. But British scientists discovered that people who carry two copies of a variation of the FTO gene weighed, on average, seven pounds more than people who lack it. And the very next article I read tells us scientists have actually located a gene that is correlated with being overweight in our current environment. Granted the average weight difference is only 7 pounds, but honestly, that strikes me as a lot for an average difference. I wonder if I have the gene? Probably not, but if I did, it would mean I would have to work harder to stay slim and trim.
