Need Muscles to burn calories? Eat Omega-3s!
We’ve all heard that muscles burn calories even when we don’t exercise. So, adding some muscle can aid weight loss. Would you like a boost that doesn’t require even more exercise?
Eat Omega-3s fatty acids!
A research team led by Carole Thivierge, from Universite Laval’s Institute of Nutraceutics and Functional Foods, has been studying the effect of Omega-3s on muscle development in cattle, but the results are expected to apply to mammals generally, including humans.
Specifically, Professor Thivierge believes that consuming more Omega-3s could help athletes build muscle and help those over 50 retain muscle as they age. Of course, you still need to exercise, the Omega-3s just give you an extra boost.
Oh, and if you are diabetic or pre-diabetic omega-3s also help you manage your glucose levels and benefit people with heart disease. So, there are more reason to consume more omega-3s.
How can you get more omega-3 fatty acids: Eat fatty fish like Salmon.
