Cutting Calories Most Important for Weight Loss.

Wasn’t it just yesterday I posted that researchers announced vigorous exercise — like running– keeps weight off? Well, now we read that cutting calories matters more. Consumer Health Daily

In the study, published in the May issue of Obesity, the researchers report that 80 percent of EatRight participants — a University of Alabama at Birmingham program to lose weight — maintain their weight loss after two years. Most do it primarily by sticking to a low-calorie, low-energy-density diet, according to Tiffany Cox, program coordinator for the EatRight follow-up study.

Yes… well, you need diet and exercise both help. But lots of people are too busy to be avid runners like the people we read about yesterday. I bet most runners who stop running don’t stick to low calorie diets. So, it’s no mystery: on average people who eat less stay thinner. On average people who run a lot stay thinner.

I’m struggling to find a balance. I want don’t want to starve myself — that means I need to exercise.

  1. i have lost about 60 kilos almost 5 years ago and stayed the same weight for about 3 years now. i think the secret behind it is that i walk for about 2 hours a day, never use an elevator and never binge alone.

  2. When I was trying to lose weight, I found for me, I had to change how and what I ate. The exercise didn’t help me lose weight. It helped me get into better shape, though. :)
