Calories Count Most In Weight Loss
Trying to lose weight? Calories count more than the types of food you eat.
U.S. Department of Agriculture-Tufts University study shows
that after a year, overweight people on a low-carb low-glycemic-index (aka “slow-carb” diet lost the same amount of weight as as overweight people on a reduced-fat, high-glycemic-index diet.
Both groups lost about 8% of their body weight, which is quite a lot. Note that both dieters in both groups attended weekly behavioral support groups and met with dietitians individually. (I can’t help notice that support groups and meeting with a dietitian seems to really help dieters lose weight.)
