Here’s the first mitten!
(Mom, how do they compare to the ones you say Grandma made?)
Anyway, my first guess for the location of the thumb opening was ok. But, since I got rid of the flange from my “flanged mittens” and also have no ribbing, I should have extended the mitten length below the thumb. If you look at the mitten, you’ll see that bone peaking out! I know I don’t like my wrist bone uncovered. So, I re-coded. The current program creates a pattern for mittens that are just a bit longer below the thumb than the ones I’m wearing.
Since I gave you the link, you can run the program. However, I’m proof reading the generator page, and I’ll be knitting the lined version tomorrow. After that, the program should be more trustworthy. (Then, I can write these up for hand knitting too. They should be pretty easy. Although, hand knitters need to see a chart for the stitch pattern. I just picked one programmed into the Passap!)
