My hints worked! I got a set of Denise interchangeable needles for Christmas. I’ve been trying them out and they are terrific. The set not only has interchangeable points, but the tips stay on. Plus, I can make circular needles in a wide range of lengths– including fairly short lengths. Of course, the fact they come in a case should keep them all organized! (Which is important, because I tend to scatter things around.)
On the organzation front, my niece also gave me a neat hand made box to store my tapestry needles, stitch markers and scissors. Now, they won’t be strewn all over the family room.
I was also really pleased with the reception to my baby ponchos. I took them up to my sister’s house for her annual family Christmas gathering; everyone ooohed and ahhhedd. People especially liked the idiot cord– frog button type closure. (Which I “unvented” partly because they are cheaper and easier than buttons and buttonholes, and partly because the I-Cord isn’t a choke hazard. Buttons are.)
Both my sister want me to knit one for their husband’s nieces.
I said “ok”, but warned them, the next design will have a hood. I figure that way moms don’t have to tote around hats. (Well, plus, I don’t like knitting the same thing over and over. ) Both sisters agreed hoods will be a nice addition. Now, I have to find some suitable pink yarn, order it and code the hooded version of the baby poncho.
Meanwhile, I’d like to ask anyone who happens by to suggest other knit (or crochet) projects that I might work on– and turn into a generator?
I’m always haphazard about implementing these — since I need to decide I really want to knit myself something before I’m motivated code and knit the item. I am planning double thick mittens on a circular machine. Maybe I should break down and do the bikini someone suggested? Maybe a halter top? (Can you tell I’m longing for summer already!)
I’ve been thinking of skirts, strangely enough– but knit skirts aren’t in right now. Or are they? (I tend to be clueless about these things.)
Anyway, the two or three of you who visit the blog, feel free to leave a suggestion.
(Actually, I think I’m averaging 10 or so! But, any feedback is good.)
Who knows, I might code it!
