Collaborators
were shot after World War II
for aiding Nazis.
Guess what? This knit was designed by Maggie Jackson, the same designer who published the sexy dress in “Shoot Me Haiku”!
So, I have to ask, “Does every Maggie Jackson book display a woman backed up against a wall?” In this case, I don’t really “get” the design. That I-cord wrapped just below her abdomen and around her hips suggest she’s tied up. The beret evokes France. Her head turned away seems to evoke a feeling of shame. I’m not sure what the rest evokes. Possibly fabric and yarn shortages during the war?
Oh well!
