I’ve been knitting Jim a sweater using Taiga Taiga Deluxe Wool which I adore. Progress is s_l_o_w because, well, spring has sprung; I stop to take walks or play with the cats outside! Plus, I’ve been diverted by my Haiku binges. Plus, it’s a winter/fall sweater; I should have cast on something springy! Still, I should finish next week.
So, what suddenly appears in my email? An ad from Edward at Taiga.
Talk about gorgeous new stuff! He’s added several mohair blends in loads of colors, more wool, and something he calls goat down blends.
Silk blends! Ok, it’s 20% silk and 80% acrylic. I think I’m going to order the “Blues Silk” in tan and crochet a shawl to wear over summer dresses. Yes, I said crochet!
But maybe I should try the linen? He’s really added a lot of nice looking yarn.
I’ll be going through the list of people who joined the The Knitting Fiend Forum, and drawing the name of the winner of the $25 Taiga gift certificate this weekend. When I picked that as the prize, I didn’t know how many yummy yarns Taiga would add to their collection.
Too bad my name won’t be in the hat!
Note: I am not affiliated with Taiga. I just discovered their yarn, and I am a very satisfied customer. I do want to give them a boost in publicity because we knitters do need wonderful economical sources of beautiful yarns. I need to get back to swatching some of the stuff and showing it! Shoot, I’m behind on everything.

I am very happy to find their expanded catalogue too. I am wondering about goat down … this is really new to me. Have you used it before?

Never. I’m not entirely sure what it is. Some of the terms are being translated from Russian. I’ve very tempted to buy a skein when I order the silk– just to see!

I was curious about the goat down. I ordered the Angora/Wool mix just now, and should have had them throw in some of the goat down wool. Oops!

Could you share a contact address for Taiga ?
I am always looking for affordable yarn and of course someone who is willing to ship to Mexico.
Thanks…
Angelika
