Cape or ruana?
A lot of trouble to knit:
not easy to wear.
I’ve heard people complain ponchos are difficult to wear. Where do you carry your purse? (Hold your handbag in your hand.) How do you put on a coat? (Don’t.)
I have to admit, ponchos can present challenges. In this regard, they are not unique. And at least with a poncho, you don’t have to keep flipping the unfixed end over your shoulder.

Another wrap that would look great as a throw.
I may just have to knit up a funky looking blanket for the kid. I better finish the blanket I started him 2 years ago first though. hehehe
