Blackie is not my cat.
He’s been stopping by since March and lounging in my yard. Back then, he was just a skinny thing. I befriended him, by petting him and giving him food. He let me attach a note with my phone number to his collar. I now know his owner, who can call if Blackie goes missing for long stretches at a time.
For the past two weeks, Blackie has been standing in the rain at 5 am, waiting by my back door. He was drenched and shivering every morning, and demanded I pick him up. Unfortunately, he won’t come in to the house where he could warm up. I felt sorry for him, and made this cat hut. He took to it immediately, and spent about 4 hours there yesterday and this morning.
I saw him run after a squirrel this afternoon, but I assume he’ll be back at 5 am tomorrow.
