I’ve been getting a fair number of “how to” questions by private email, which is great. But I don’t always know the answer, and even when I do, I think it’s best when solutions are posted out in public. That way, Google’s spiders can find them and eventually other knitters with similar problems and questions can find the answers.
So, I decided, “What the heck? I should start a forum! “
So, I did! I downloaded the software last night, and got this kinda-sort slapped together this forum: The Knitting Fiend Forum where people can ask questions about knitting, my pattern generators or just discuss knitting.
I’m still trying to figure out the features, thinking about the format and trying to resolve a few pesky features . Over the next month, I’ll be fiddling with format, features, and other things; so this is likely to be a “disappearing-reappearing forum”. I’m hoping to have some sort of “official” launch in March. (Whatever that might entail. It might just be mentioning it exists, and that I’m now happy with it!
)
Meanwhile, I’m hoping a few people will visit, try joining up, post a few things, and tell me how it looks in general. There are about one hundred bajillion features the administrator can choose with the forum, and I need to figure out how the various ones work.

I tried clicking on your forum link but I got the dreaded “Can’t find the server…” error message. I am failing around in the mist of reading everything on knitting socks and just started my first one yesterday. Love your site! Trying to assimulate all this info is overwhelming. Any reccommendation on what needle/size to buy for the magic loop? I want to do 2 at a time but I started using dpn because that is what I had at the moment.
TIA,
Maggie

Drat about the error message!
I set it up under both “thedietdiary.com” and “theknittingfiend.com”. However, they say it takes between 24 and 48 hours for “theknittingfiend.com” address to propagate — and it propagates strangely. So, some people can get to it with the address at the link and some will take 72 hours!
So… anyway, my theory is, some people will be able to get there and some won’t over then next day! Oh well.
On the needle length. I used 29″ for 1 sock because that’s what I could find. I think you’d need 40″ for two at a time.

I was able to read this. I like the kitten with the yarns logo. NFT
