To ensure a happy New Year’s day, I snuck out and made a purchase. This purple sock yarn will transform the traditional New Year’s Day Football Bowl-a-Thon into something bearable.1
I’m planning to use my sockulator III directions to knit the toe. After that, I’ll switch to magic loop, working it in stockinette but ignoring the instructions for “needle 1, needle 2 etc.” Then, who knows? Maybe cables on the sides?
I’m also looking at some of those toe up heel turn directions. I know a few people wanted to learn how to make a more square looking heel toe up.
Of course, there is a downside to my plan. In my family, New Year’s Day Football watching generally involves beer, snacks, talking and shouting at astonishingly high volumes. So, the whole purple sock may need to be ripped back and reworked the first week of the year.
But, so what? As long as now one spills cheese dip on the socks, it will be easy enough to rip, rewind and rework. There are no deadlines when I knit and my feet are already warm toasty in my new red socks!
