Chewy is stylin’!
in a turtleneck sweater
handknit by Maddy.
I don’t usually add anything to my haikus; normally I like the ambiguity associated by haiku.
Today some explanation is required.
Maddy, a site visitor knit this cute dog sweater using my dog sweater pattern generator. When I saw the photo, I knew I just had to show you all the infinite cuteness of the Chewy, his sweater and Maddy’s matching bag.
The dog sweater pattern was the second generator I wrote. People who know I don’t even own a dog have asked: Was alcohol involved in the decision to write this? Yes, beer was involved, two beers.
I think dog sweaters are a good project to get you started designing your own stuff. Assuming your dog is small, the sweater is a small projects, most people like dog sweaters to be whimsical which makes design less stressful, and most people want washable yarn, so inexpensive acrylics are an appropriate yarn choice, and if your dog is small, he probably needs a sweater!
Cheap, quick, stress free, cute and useful. What could be better?
If you do want to knit your dog a sweater, you’ll need to measure your dog and make a bunch of decisions. Pick the yarn, needles, collar height, stitch pattern, your own method to increase and decrease etc. That makes it your design. The generator will do the math for you.
If your dog needs a sweater, I bet you can design a cute one!

hehe Chewy makes me want to get a lil furball. Actually, if I give in to my 6 yr old on the pet front it will be a ginea pig and not a dog. So the question is, will your generator work on a ginea pig? lol j/k

Well… yes. But you need to measure the little piggy.
The correct item to knit for a guinea pig you want this:
