Just what every knitter needs: a list of 500+ Knitting blogs.
Surprisingly, I didn’t feel like knitting a sock last night. Instead, I poured myself some wine, got on the web and created a humongonormous subscription list at bloglines.
Yep. Possibly, the worlds longest list of knitting blogs. Supposedly, it automatically sorts itself to show those with the most recent posts first and those with the oldest posts last.
You can see it here: Knitting Links.
I found more than 500, but I’d like this to be complete. So, now that I’ve started it, I’m going to try to add to it. If you know a knitter whose blog belongs on the list, let me know!
After all, who doesn’t want to read everything ever written by every knitter on the planet?

I feel sad that in a list of 500 mine isn’t included, but then again, at least the Secret Pal 5 (and probably 6 too) has at least 600 knitting blogs on it, so I’m in the company of at least 100 other people …

Well Elspeth, you aren’t alone. I’m not on there either. hehe Then again, maybe Lucia doesn’t like some of the language I use on my blog. Oh wait, she has Rabbitch on there. hehehe Man I love it when she goes on a tangent.

Good thing your URLS show up for me! I think I added them.
I’ll explain the “process” a bit more, after I double check if I succeeded! (Bloglines ran perfectly well yesterday. Today, I keep getting warnings that say their script is slow and will make my machine “unresponsive”!)

Yep! You both are in.
The way I got so many added so quickly is:
I visted bloglines and searched for knitting. It listed a whole bunch of knitting blogs. I clicked on one, then clicked on “related feeds”. Then, I subscribed to every one with “knit”, “knitting”, “purling” or other very obvious knitting associated words in the title.
But, strangely, it became obvious there are sort of “circles” of knit bloggers. Some all point to one another. So, if I didn’t hit “your” little circle of readers, I missed you.
When I added you both, I also clicked “related feeds” for your blogs and picked up 10 more bloggers!! whoo hooo!

Not on there, either - but then Bloglines doesn’t seem to know how to categorize my blog. Heck, *I* don’t know what category it should go into! But there is a lot of knitting in there

I need to actually go through and make sure blogs on my main blog roll are actually on the big one! (The way I created the main one quickly didn’t necessarily catch the ones on me list here. I figured the way I was doing it would catch most. I need to do that in a “second pass”, but I haven’t yet.
Thanks for telling me Elaine.

I think you’re in now! I don’t know what was happening at bloglines, it gave me a hard time entering yours Dani!

for some odd reason, and i think it may be the way the feed was coded in, if you dont use the link at the bottom for RSS feed, it’s cranky - even the sub with bloglines link is iffy - sometimes yes, soemtimes no…
Sorry about that! And thanks for adding me in =)

I’ve got you in how Helen! I’m up past 700. I added a whole bunch today.
Unfortunately, bloglines seems to s_l_o_w way down when I add blogs. After I add a site to the blogroll, it takes 2-3 minutes to reload. Luckily, I just open one browser to sit there open at bloglines and then open another to surf and do read emails.
I do want to encourage anyone who I’ve missed to tell me. I tried to add everyone– but due to the slowness at bloglines, I’m very inefficient!
