Rhetorical question: WHY are you the only person in hours of googling this topic that is capable of giving comprehensible instructions on how to knit increasing short rows?  For example, I never once saw anyone mention purling through the back loop.
I finished my toe turn and the diagonal IS a little more &quot;hole-y&quot; than the rest of the fabric-- is this how it should look?
Also-- a general comment-- I propose a universal bar against anyone using &quot;the&quot; as an article for the word &quot;needle&quot; when writing knitting instructions.  (And thank you for not doing this!!)  As we work with two needles (and sometimes three) it&#039;s much too vague.  I happened to hit on this one set of instructions for knitting short rows that asked me to &quot;wrap yarn around the needle&quot; several times-- worse than meaningless, unless you already know the technique.</description>
