My feet are cold, especially at night. So, I thought,
I found a cotton-wool blend fingering weight at the store. The cotton will let my tootsies breathe; the wool will give some warmth. Perfectamundo!
Tonight I cast on “Plain Old Socks.” So far, I’ve knit 1 inch of ribbing. I need to knit a little bit of stockinette, and then I’ll turn the heel. Other than the heel turn knitting socks is absolutely mindless, but for some reason, turning heels is one of those things some intermediate knitters like to “impress” beginning knitters. It’s actually pretty easy provided the knitter can see a thorough explanation.
I’ll take some pictures to show each step tomorrow.
And, of course, I’ve written a “sock-u-lator” program for these. I need to proof-knit it to be sure there aren’t any obvious boo-boos. Then, I’ll post it after finishing the first sock.

Hi! I’m just starting my very first pair of socks…what does anchoring mean?
