In a two line article published at Volokh Conspiracy, Juan Non-Volokh. alerted me to this story March of the Conservatives: Penguin Film as Political Fodder”.
Evidently, conservatives are now touting penguins as role models and touting them as proof if Intelligent Design:
A widely circulated Christian magazine said it made “a strong case for intelligent design.”
But does it?
As a Chicagoan, I couldn’t help recalling The sordid tale of a desperate penguin.
First she thoroughly breached all sense of propriety among her penguin peers by stealing spouses, brawling with another female and seducing an uninitiated adolescent male.
Now, separated from the rest of the Brookfield Zoo colony, Zurita has likely become the world’s first successful single-parent penguin, raising a chick fathered by a much younger companion who can’t be bothered to help out.
Evidently, the Brookfied Zoo has exiled Zurita to Milwaukee. Read the whole sordid tale in the The Chicago Tribune.
Who’d have thought an intelligent designer would have permitted this?

Being a born and raised Chicago girl who is now living in Northeastern Florida, I totally understand being send from Brookfield Zoo to the Milwaukee Zoo would show me the errors of my ways. At least I think it would if I were a penguin. But I have no idea how this fits in with intelligent design.

Ahhh! The original article has this quote:
“It” being penguin behavior. I think I better add the quote!
