Voila!
I asked people on the knitting machines email list whether I should chart the capelet by just extending the length of the green collar, or reduce the flare. Based on their input, I reduced the flare for the cape below the shoulders. I think the pink Capelet is has just the amount of flare I wanted.
The code for these two items will be up and running on Wednesday. Mostly, I need to check the wording, and get some schematics in, so people will understand the three geometric features you need to specify to design your capelet. (As usual, you need to specify your stitch and row gauge.)
I think you can see pink capelet is longer than the collar. There is another difference though. Both has shoulder darts, but the shoulder darts for the collar end at the hem. Those for the capelet end at the shoulder. (Which means if you want a capelet that flares out more than mine, you lie and tell the program you have really, really big shoulders.)

I think the pink capelet is especially pretty, and it may change my mind about making one. What yarn did you use? Glad to see you blogging more.

I think the capelet is very pretty. I can envision it as a ‘cover up’ for many of the strapless dresses which are most fashionable. Certainly much more handsome than a sweater or more manageable than a shawl.
Good luck !!

I really like this as a cover up too! I’m glad Sylvia suggested I create the generator. Supposedly, these are going to be “in”, and they are easier to wear than a big shawl. The look more elegant than a poncho.
I used some fuzzy pink fake mohair mystery yarn in my stash. I bought it at the yarn exchange in DeKalb about 2 years ago. It was HORRID to knit because I had to pull down on the gate pegs every 3 rows. But, it’s really beautiful when knit up. (I’ve been advised I should get a waxer and wax if I want to knit mohair.)
It knit at 5.57 st/inch.
