The Knitting Fiend

Ok, I have to admit “zipping” is not the correct term. The weather has been so hot, I haven’t felt like doing a ton of knitting. I coded the generator for the shrug, and did start knitting the shrug.

Because I like to defer final decisions about sleeve length, I decided to cast on at the shoulder, knit across the back, then down to a cuff. Later, I’ll pick up stitches at the cast on and knit the other sleeve. To do this, I need to begin with some type of provisional cast on; naturally, I used my favorite cheaters provisional cast on.

Of course, I won’t be revealing the generator until I finish knitting. This helps me avoid publishing code with arithmetic errors. But, I can reveal that the first instruction is “Cast on 75 stitches using a provisional cast on.” The second tells me to knit, until the work measures, oh, 20″ from the cast on.

Now, to get chugging on the shrug!
