thanks for bringing that back up from under the surface. i discovered that a few months ago but didnt really dig anything up. its so terrible. it makes me think twice about moving now. im glad i dont live there now, but i think that there is a possibility its going to affect us all at some point, no matter where we live.

I used to live there! I worked at Pacific Northwest Laboratories and contributed to projects related to nuclear waste. In fact, I walked over radioactive waste stored in K-basins. (The picture shows K-East and K-West.)
The more recent articles do indicate they are getting some stuff cleaned up. But, there is an awful lot of waste out there. (And it’s not our only site. Just the biggest one.)
I posted the article yesterday because my husband happens to be in Richland right now. (He works on global climate change projects though. )

HEY! I live there now! The Tri-Cities is freakin’ awesome – although there isn’t much to do. Yeah, Hanford’s like right across the street – whoopdeedo. >_
