I’m working on a new “theme” for my blog. My goal is to make the blog more function. To see the new template, please click below:
I hope you clicked and it opened. If you did, you should see new “look” I’m considering. Please comment. Right now, I especially want to know:
- Are there any display problems? (Does any text hide anything else. Is it hard to read? )
- Does it load too slowly? (Say how slowly: 1 second, 1 minute, never even loaded?
- General comments!
Thanks!

The site load was very quick. My only suggestion stems from the fact my eyesight is not great, I can’t see the picture in your banner very clearly because of the size.
Otherwise, the new template is great!

It loaded very quick. I do like your old site because
the pics are nice and large - type too. But either
way, your blog will be fabulous.

Thanks for the input so far.
I think I can bump up the font size fairly easily. I’ll also need to fiddle to make sure things print nicely; that will probably occupy Monday. I have this theory that people who print out a blog article don’t want to print out the side bars. This is going to take a bit longer than I’d hoped. (But then, all computer fiddling takes longer than I hope!)

I like the new template a lot! The ads and links look nice and organized and all on the right. It’s cleaner and easier to use. The font size is fine, a little bit larger wouldn’t hurt either. FYI, when I hover the mouse pointer over the “The Knitting Fiend” on the top, an underline shows up. I felt this was distracting.
I’m not too familiar with WordPress, but there may be a module/add-on available to create a “Print this page/post” link??

Thanks lime dragon.
The changing the underlining when you hover should be easy. The rest of the links are set to change color when someone hovers, which I agree is nicer.
There are tons of resources for Wordpress. In fact, the problem is there are almost too many! Plus sometime, they are hard to find, and they can always be customized. If I just used the default there, there’d be no work involved. But, I want three columns!

Man, I like this a lot better. For whatever reason, I
lost the right and left edges of your posts on the old
site. OK, I read it anyway, because you ROCK! This is
just flat perfect!

Two people emailed me about the loss of edges. That was one of the reasons I picked this new format. I was a little afraid it will load slowly because it uses “tables” instead of “CSS”. (If you do web pages, you probably “get” what I mean. Otherwise, that was meaningless drivel.)
I’m incompetent with “CSS”, and since things display differently on different screens, I wanted something that I know displays more robustly. That is, closer to “the same” on everyone’s screen.
I did figure out how to make the font sizes larger, so I’ll be doing that to help those with aging eyes and/or poor screen resolution. (I’m in the first category. My mom uses computers at the library, and for all I know, they have poor resolution!)

I like the new format. I’m on slow dial-up, and it took as long to load as your current format (about 20 seconds). I can’t see the far right side column at all unless I scroll, and this is where the layout’s so nice.
