My knit rat Siberian Hamster pattern is fixin’ to be my most popular pattern ever!
Ok, I’ll admit, other than mine shown here, I’ve only found three pictures posted on the web. The popularity doesn’t exactly rival Christine’s Lelah, but I thought visitors might like to see some examples, especially since other people’s rats are cuter than mine. Here they are, in the order that I found them:
- Horse Power’s white and pink lab rat.
- Meowy’s striped rat with pink nose and tail.
- Mortimer, the Norwegian Hamster created by Kadreath, was knit with grey fun fur yarn.
If you’ve knit a baby rat Siberian Hamster, let me know. I’d love to see how everyone improves on the little pattern, and I suspect rat fans everywhere would too!

I love them all! I think meowy plans to make a bunch more.
I showed the different rats to my in-law, and we all agree…
The engineer in me shows. I worked out the shaping, and knit a plain ol’ ordinary rat. Everyone else injects more aesthetic sense.

Oh.. I should have added. None of my inlaws thing the engineer showing is a bad thing.
My husband and I are both trained in mechanical engineering, my father in law is a civil engineer, my brothers in law both have degrees in engineering technology. We just recognize when engineering is showing!
