Knitting is going smoothly, though I’m very slow.
I picked up stitches on one edge of the cable strip and knit the top part of the yoke. To shape the yoke, I decreased roughly 16 stitches every 4 rows until I reduced to the number of stitches required for the neck. Then, placed the neck stitches on hold and decided it was time to pause.
I did test fit to make sure the cable does hit near my shoulders. Either by virtue of good luck or correct calculation, it did. So, this will look the way I want it to look.
The cable strip will sit near my shoulders when I wear the sweater. I’ll need to pick up stitches on the other edge and begin knitting down. I’ll be shaping more slowly over the lower portion.
I bet you can now see why I am naming this design “Olympic Circle”?
