My Father Haiku

Dad

I can ride a bike
because my father taught me
a long time ago.

Yesterday, Dad’s neighbor phoned my sister, telling her that Dad had been rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a result of profuse bleeding after a colonoscopy. The neighbor was quite frantic and said she thought he was going to die.

After several calls, the nice man in ER walked the phone over to my Dad and let me speak to him! Dad sounded tired and weak, but in good spirits. He tells me he’ll be out on Friday. ( I’m betting he’ll be out Sunday.)

Anyway, it was all pretty scary. Heck, it’s still scary!

  1. Oh, Lucia. I’m sorry. It’s especially hard when he is far away. I hope he is feeling better soon.

  2. Yes… I worry. We just saw him in late May. That’s when Jim took that photo.

I think he’ll be ok though! (I hope so.)

  18. Hope he’s home and feeling better by now. It’s so much harder to deal with these things when distance keeps you apart.
