felted cannibal

Little cannibals

and eat smaller ones.

I found this hand knit doll by designer Donna Wilson at Art Moco.

Thanks for the comments on the masks. I agree with many who think the first of the three masks is the scariest– and that it’s not really intended to be scary. That makes it even scarier.

The crochet mask is awesome scary. It reminds me of carved ritual masks. I do plan to write haiku’s on some of the other masks at the crochet site because they are really awesome too. (But, so far, I haven’t come up with a haiku that does them justice.)

And now, to digress to something totally different: I periodically reveal how finding these knit items relate to my master scheme to make money selling advertising on this blog. Here’s how I found this: There was an “opportunity” to hawk airplanes on PayPerPost. Seriously– I could have made $35 posting an ad telling my knitting readers all where they could buy airplane.

Of course, we all know that every knitter really wants to buy an airplane. After all, if you owned one, you wouldn’t need to worry about getting your knitting needles through security. So, I figured I should educate knitters about how and where to buy airplanes (and make myself $35 in the process, which, I’m sure you think I deserve. ;) )

So, I quickly googled “airplanes knitting” at google images. I found some knit airplanes and knew I could write some sort of “knit airplane haiku”. Then, I immediately clicked the “take opportunity” button.

Unfortunately, I was too late. Someone else got the $35 opportunity to hawk airplanes to their readers. So…I couldn’t write a haiku about knitting an airplane and then tell you all where to go off and buy a real airplane (for prices as low as $megabucks.) So, you knitters will need to live without learning where to buy your own airplane for a little longer.

Ok… but you still don’t know how I found this cannibal doll? I continued to click through the images to find more stuff. I found this. Really. And believe it or not, I found the first scary mask that way. I have no idea what either knitting has to do with airplanes.

But do remember: I will periodically be hawking strange stuff. Like airplanes.

Yes, I have low standards for taking ads. However, I am skipping the offers that look like get rich quick schemes.

  1. At least that one is arty. Right?

  2. Yes, this one looks arty! All I need is comment worthy to write a haiku. It could be great, horrible etc. (Yes, horrible can be easier. Strangely enough, the “looking for hooks for ads” is causing me to find a larger fraction of fun, cool or neat comment worthy stuff. Admittedly, I find horrible stuff too!)

  3. It makes me want to STOP calling myself an artist…I don’t want to be lumped in with that. Is that incredibly judgemental or what? OOOPS!
