I was visiting Cass Knits and she described a way I could bribe reward people to post comments. I’d like more comments, so I implemented the trick. From now on, if knitters (or anyone) post comments on any of my posts, Google will “count” the link and increase the page rank of your knitting blog.
Cass also provide a list of other Wordpress blogs that have instituted the trick, and if you visit their blogs, and comment, you can improve your page rank even more! (Wow!)
What’s the scheme? It’s called joining the D List. There are basically two steps:
- I install the WordPress DO FOLLOW plugin and let readers know that their comments at my site will increase their their page ranks.
- I encourage the knitters who use WordPress to install the DO FOLLOW plugin and tell people I told them about it, including a link to my blog. (That way their visitors might come to my blog and comment!)
)
Here’s the list of blogs using DoFollow! ![]()

Hmmmm sounds like the ole chainletter scam. Add your name to the list and send $5 to the name at the top. When you get to the top, you will get $500. hehehehe
I’ve got a crappy Blogger blog that no one reads. whaaaa! lmao

Sort of. Except, I’m pretty sure the *real* purposes of posting the list is to readers see where they can visit, comment and gain page rank for themselves. (The real goal is then to bribe link-whore bloggers to visit a blog and check it out!)
If you want to get 10 links to your blog really quickly, just visit 10 on the list and comment. Voila! Improved page rank for you. (And they likely hope you’ll like their blog.)
I mostly figure I might as well let visitors get page rank. I’ve got spam under control. What the plug in does is take out the “no follow” tag which was stuck in to avoid rewarding spammers for leaving links on pages. So… now that spam is sort of undercontrol, why not reward my visitors?

Ok, I’ll admit to being willing to do just about anything for better rank. Although, for a while there, if you Googled “phlegmatophageous,” Madwoman’s Lunchbox was your SOLE Google hit.
The dubious benefits of an extensive vocabulary . . .

Well…. maybe you need to put phlegmatophageous in the link! (In fact, I’ll go try and then look at the source. If I remember the code right, this works in the comments themselves.)

The Do Follow movement is probably one of the more interesting community outreach programs I’ve seen among bloggers. The funny thing is the sheer scope of topics you’ll find on the list. Everything from Knitting to Web 2.0. Good work.

I think this list is great. Have you looked at Courtney Tuttle’s D-List? I have used that a lot.

Hello,
After I joined the Do Follow Movement and saw that there is a D-List, I wanted to be on that list. But, from what I saw, the list hasn’t been updated for a while. So, I decided to keep the list updated myself.
You can find it here: Do Follow List
Also, I wanted to let you know that your site is there too.
Regards,
Nicusor
