Upgrade looks ok!

I upgraded Wordpress. Dreamhost resolved my issue with “one click installation” and it worked fine.

Unfortunately, one of my plugins was causing problems with feeds by adding a blank line. Bloglines seemed to auto-correct the problem, but Feedburner didn’t. That particular plugin was supposed to help people who arrived from google find their search text. I thought that was a handy feature, but since it really messed up feeds, I turned it off once I found the problem. I’m still not sure my feed is “perfect”, but I think the majorbugs is fixed.

If feeds are fully functional, you’ll see this delightful picture of Cosmo, who, you will notice is not knitting. Mo not knitting. You should also see some links to categories “Cats” and “Blogging” and other miscellaneous stuff at the bottom of the feed.

Comments seem to be working.

The few calculators I tested seem to work.

Anyway, let me know if you see any glitches. (Meanwhile, I’ll be deleting the short “test” blog entries so people arriving at my site don’t need to read those.)

  1. THIS is what you said: “…Unfortunately, one of my plugins was causing problems with feeds by adding a blank line. Bloglines seemed to auto-correct the problem, but Feedburner didn’t….”

THIS is what I heard: “…Blah blah blah, blah, blah b-blah. Blah blah blahblah blah blah. Blah blah blah…”

    Danged technorati.

  4. The initial problem was that I’d transferred from one host to another. Dreamhosts one click system didn’t know the blog was there. So, I needed them to sort that out! Once they did, I could one click.

The only problems after that had to do with WordPress plug ins– which has nothing to do with fantastico or the one click installation. The person who wrote the “Highlite” plugin has some sort of feed destroying bug!

Some people like feedblitz. But, the main thing is I want to the feeds to work well enough so people who do read feeds can read them. Who’d think a blank line at the top of the feed would destroy them?

  5. I use Bloglines to inform me of a new post. Used to be that it only showed part of the poast but when it updated today, it showed the last 18 posts and they were full. I’ll still end up coming over to actually read your posts even though your page can take ages to load on a 28.2k connection. lol

  6. I changed it to show only 7. I’d wanted to look at all the feeds yesterday while checking if it worked. I just forgot to switch back to a normal number of feeds.
