Spring in Chicago
eventually arrives,
then it snows once more.
It’s a beautiful day here in “midwest Siberia”, and I didn’t get much knitting done. Instead, I spent the hours between 8 am to 3 pm dividing perennials, pruning, and babying my little starts. The starts from seed include basil, catnip (for Cosmow), dill, columbines, cyprus vine and white cone-flower. I’ve got Dahlias and Caladiums starting from bulbs. Summer and beauty will soon be here!
In no less than 10 minutes, my in-law will arrive. Have I fixed a fancy dinner? No. After gardening all day and finally takinga bath, I decided to drink wine> (No, this is not good to do on a diet. Yes, it is cheating. I don’t care!)
Anyway, I will feed my inlaws frozen pizza. They will like it! (My in-laws are nice. They really will like it. I’ll go preheat the oven now.)
I know those of you in places like Georgia or Tennessee are feeling sorry for me, since everything is already flowering in your garden. And you should feel sorry for me. But, you don’t need too feel to badly: I do have daffodils to look at!
The break in the weather means that tomorrow there will be more gardening. Knitting resumes on Monday!

Yes, I’m only a couple hours south, but I know what you mean. This past fortnight has been heaven, and I have been gardening as much as my new-pregnancy-exhaustion will take. Digging up sod for a new veggie patch. Planting pansies and basil and tomatoes. And transplanting ferns. I hope we don’t really get snow. Good luck with the frozen pizza.
