Where is his fluffy tail?
It was injured last winter;
now his rump is round!
I know this picture is blurry, but seeing “Rumpy” the tailless squirrel make me feel happy!
Last February, I saw a little squirrel with a bloody tail running up and down our locust tree. I thought for sure he was a goner. After all, it was winter, he couldn’t get antibiotics how could he survive?
Well, survive he did! We spotted him about two weeks ago. I kept hoping I could catch a photo. So, just now, there he was outside my kitchen window. I got the camera, and snapped a shot. Unfortunately, the camera auto-focused. . . on the window pane.
I decided to lure him to photo distance with walnuts and managed to get one shot. See him below left? He’s standing at the edge of the patio. Unfortunately, my presence scared him and he ran off to the wood pile. Lucky for me my camera has a zoom lens!

Awwwwwwwww, RUMPY!!! I find it amusing that you spotted him and then “and managed to get one shot”.
My husband takes pix and it always cracks me up when he says he’s shooting somebody.
And we live in LA.
Where if squirrels are missing a tail, it’s more than likely caused by some kid going off his meds…
