Nipples splendid;
I wish I could show mine off,
but it’s illegal.
From Interweave Knits, Spring 2007.
Ok, what do I really think? I think the designer thinks that busty women want to show off their chest — every bit of it. Of course, the knitting magazine editors realized that they just couldn’t publish this pattern unless someone wore something under that top. That resulted in the idiotic look of a lacy top worn over a dress.
Why in the name of the Flying Spaghetti monster didn’t the designer just design the bra part in stockinette and the lower skirt part in lace? If you want to find non nipplerevealing clothes that fit large breasted women women with small frames, try the sponsor of this post Eris Apparel.

Weeeeelll….
It IS a very open lace pattern. Designer could have added a stockinette bra behind the lace, done a similar pattern on the breast that is not so open or the photog could have picked out an underdress that fits with the top but that would be difficult considering the neckline or lack thereof.

Yeah, the photographer might have “saved” this one. Still, I tend to think that if the photographer has to find the a dress to exactly match the top’s neckline, then the knitting pattern should tell us which pattern to use to make our dresses! (Which means we now sew our dresses and knit our tops!)

I looked at that pattern in IK yesterday and while it is pretty not very practical.

Maybe someone could wear this over a bathing suit at the beach? I dunno. Just trying to brainstorm. It’s not awful, just uhm odd.
