A city slicker
in a stockinette tent dress,
she dreams of camping.
From Vogue Knitting Fall ‘91.
I lived through the 90s. Either I was blind to the fashion zeitgeist or tent dresses never really caught on. I wonder if anyone knit this?
Mind you, it’s would be a fairly simple knit: endless stockinette. On the other hand, it’s an endless boring knit. And when you are done, you have a shapeless figure concealing dress you will probably never outgrow. I’m going to suggest my friend KitKat knit this because she really needs to start concealing that bulge around the middle. ![]()

If you hadn’t posted the date on the magazine, I would have bet the farm that this was late 60’s.

Lucia, I came to your blog to read the “rules” of Knit Flame. I found so much more! You are one hysterical person and I have loved the hour or so that I have spent here reading all of your Haiku.
Thanks for the GREAT laughs.

I wonder how much a dress like that weighs?

I’ll confess to getting into “tent” dresses circa 1992, only I called them “A-line.” i had at least two that I picked up from The Limited and my mom sewed up a good half dozen in various fabrics. They were awesome with leggings and packed light. What can I say.
