An atrocity.
Scraggly. Orange and yellow.
Yet, someone knit this.
From Adriafil
Ahh, there is nothing like a little all over novelty yarn action!
Unfortunately for me, Adrialfil’s most recent pattern book doesn’t seem to feature anything in this scraggly yarn. This pattern is a few years old. Berrocco and LionBrand seem to be featuring less all over fun-fur type yarns? Has the end of an era arrived? Will 2007 bring back a love of truly wearable knitting that has not existed since WWII era yarn and fabric shortages?
Well, if knitting magazines start publishing nothing but tasteful sweaters and fun socks and hats, I may need to start watching the fashion runways. Here we have men in tights see at StyleDash:

Wanna bet the guys in your life don’t want a pair of these?

ROFL!!! I saw that one! Did you see the turkey hats? And the plastic dog collars - those inverted cone things the vet sends you home with? I kid you not! The turkey hats looked like a couple of very large turkeys flew straight into the model’s head and stuck there. I’ll send you the designer’s name when I get home. They’re on style.com in the Fall 2006 RTW section. That will give you PLENTY of material… LOL!

See, if I had the money to waste, I’d totally knit the fuglicious things such as the muppet pelt jacket. And wear them in public, and if people ask, “Did you knit that?” in that “my god, ew” tone of voice, I’d say, “Yeah, isn’t it HIDEOUS!”
I’m a sucker for punishment, methinks.
And that guy looks like those men at the Renaissance Faires who have no idea what they’re doing and decided to dig in their wives’ wardrobes for a decent costume.
A kilt would have been better.

Dude, I just noticed, is that a MOPED behind her? Is this some watered down version of a hell’s angel? Only moped/fun fur yarn jacket instead of motorcycle and leather?
Weeeird.

hey sue creesto. That “man” is carrying a brief bag. Do you think the attorneys here at Fat Cat Law Firm will soon be wearing those tights? I’d really have to rip out my eyeballs by the ROOOTS.
And I like how muppet-gurl has a moped and the flopsy ‘do. It’s like she’s trying to be 16 when she has the face of a 35 y/o. And coming from a 43 y/o who still wears combat boots, that’s saying a lot.

Knitty just had a whole article about this… The “end of knitting” as they called it. Apparently a lot of knitting “market analysts” or something were saying knitting was going out of style because people were buying less yarn. Knitty countered this by saying that the people that took up knitting when fun fur scarves were the rage have either stopped knitting, or become serious knitters, and are now buying less yarn as they work from their stashes, or working on longer, harder projects. Apparently, yarn stores are having a hell of a time trying to *get rid* of all the fun fur they stocked up on… Now nobody wants it!
…. As a former fun fur buyer/knitter, I am on a self imposed yarn ban and allowed only to knit from my stash until it’s halved in size.. So I can side with that theory on why yarn sales have decreased!

Are you sure someone knit that? I definitely wouldn’t take credit for it. It looks like one of those animals from Empire Strikes Back that had an accident.

When I was in my lys a couple of weeks ago the proprietor told me her sale basket was full to the brim with novelty type yarn. She said she could see the buying trends moving back toward conservative yarns. (conservative meaning less flashy not to be confused with conservative meaning less expensive)

That fun fur jacket? NOW I understand the phrase “the dog’s breakfast.”
As to men in tights: this one’s not bad, except for the clompy shoes. Some Regency-era dance pumps, a well-tied cravat, subtly patterned waistcoat and cutaway jacket … THEN he’d be ready to par-tay! Or maybe a Georgian coat, complete with ruffles and powdered wig. Mmmm …
