Bathing Suit Knit-- bulky yarn!

Bulky bathing suits:
they can quite quickly be knit ,
but they never dry.

Happy New Year!

Have you missed me? Well, like many others, I’ve been revelling!

We:

  • celebrated Christmas Eve at the in-laws,
  • celebrated Christmas Day at my sister’s.
  • celebrated my in-law’s heaven knows what # anniversary.
  • celebrated my father-in-law’s 89th birthday.
  • tried to fix the dishwasher.
  • celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Noble Fool theater / Pheasant Run Resort center in St. Charles.
  • celebrated New Year’s Day at my house. (We ate Hopping John for good luck.)
  • handwashed dishes associated with said celebration.
  • watched a lot of football at my house.
  • handwashed dishes dishes associated with said football.

I’m tired of celebrating and even more tired of dealing with the darn dishwasher. Thank heaven (and the appropriate relatives) the main Christmas celebrations were not celebrated here!

Happy New Year to everyone– and wish me a new dishwasher!

The bulky– I kid you not– bulky bathing suit appeared in an ad in McCall’s Needlework and Crafts during the ’50s.

  1. Any bathing suit I would knit for myself would be bulky whether I liked it or not. :D MMMMMMMMM bulky wool pool attire!

  2. Man, just reading about all your celebrations makes me tired! And I hope Hopping John was not your pet froggy…

    Hoppy Gnu Ear!

  3. Not to mention bulky makes fluffy people even fluffier!

Sounds like you’ve been busy as hell. Thank WOOL ours is not a football house. Actually it’s not a sport’s house at all.

  4. There is definite merit in paper plates if your dishwasher is out of commission! I recently remodelled my kitchen and installed a double drawer model-works great for two empty nesters and ok for a crowd. Happy New Year!

  6. Back in college I had a crocheted (sun) bathing suit. It looked great as long as you were still and dry, but the moment it got wet it became much longer …

I would have made hopping john for dinner on new years, too, except for a lovely bout of food poisoning.

  7. Yeah…I think everyone’s heard about my crocheted bikini (it was cotton). It looked damn cute until I wore it in my friend’s hot tub. It absorbed so much water the butt sagged halfway to my knees and I had to wring it out. About half a gallon of water came out of it (on the deck! wooohoo!) Classy!
