Due to popular demand, as reflected in comments, I coded kid’s sizes and added them to the hand knit raglan sweater pattern generator.
The values coded into the pull down menus match those in a sweater design book. However, I know women’s sizes have shifted a lot since the “official” standards tables were published; for all I know, kid’s sizes have also shifted. So, I want to reality check the kid’s sizes by comparing to ommercial sweaters. I’ll take a tape measure to Walmart to compare the kid’s sizes I coded to commercial sizes in stores.
To alert visitors of the temporary potential weird size issue problem, for now, if you use the kid’s pull down menu, you’ll read a dire warning. The best reaction to the warning is to refer to the schematic, read the measurements in the boxes, then compare those to a sweater in your kid’s closet. If they are close, chances are the standards table was ok. When I’ve done this check at Walmart, I’ll strip the warning out! (Of course, you should still always reality check any pattern before knitting.)
Machine knitters: Hand knitter Mom got priority. So, I added them to the HK version first. I’ll be adding the kids sizes to the machine knit pattern generator pretty soon.
As you can see, I also knit a bit! I finished two sleeves out of The Lion Brand Dish Cloth Cotton. I put it down, because I was felt indecisive. Should it be a cardigan, which I said I was going to knit, or a pullover?
I’ve decided that, since I’m coding all these slight additions to the existing raglan code, I’ll just make this a pullover and not a cardigan. That way I can alternate knitting and putting adding and checking the kids sizes. I can put the cardigan instructions in later.
If any of you do want to knit a cardigan, you basically move the placket for the polo neck to the hem and add button holes to the appropriate side. My site visitors tend to be pretty intelligent. So, I suspect those who want to make this into a cardigan can probably figure it out already!

Hi Mom!
When are you free? Come for pizza on Saturday, and I can tutor you on how to find and use the patterns. Or, if you want to see how far you can get before visiting, you can click on this link and fiddle at the library. Just pull the menu’s down and pick Andy’s size. Notice, I entered supposed heights and weights. They were listed in the book Jill gave me.
