Hot off the presses
the newest Interweave Knits
brings us summer tops.
From Interweave Knits
Yes, I said Winter.
Imagine ice like winter winds lacerating your shoulders. Imagine sweat collecting under the warm mohair-silk blend during summer. Imagine the wonders and glories of itchy mohair rubbing up against your braless bosom.
Through the miracle of inappropriate yarn choice, IK brings hand knitters a sweater that will never be comfortable.
Hat tip to Debbi of The Shrinking Knitter for bringing this to my attention.

Maybe it’s for our friends in the southern hemisphere?

Maybe…. If they want to wear mohair during the summer. Someone I knew said there is just too much cognitive dissonance in that design.

Yeah, probably not. Still, it’s a shining star in IK’s apparent quest to design impractical stuff that no one will ever wear.

I must confess: I like the design. I wouldn’t knit it (not patient enough), and I couldn’t wear it (mohair allergy); but the design is cool. In a mermaidish, 14th-century dominatrix kind of way: bared shoulders plus fitted sleeves … yum.

I agree Gwyndolyn. My major issues with this are:
1) The design belongs in a summer issue.
2) Should be knit in cotton or silk. Something not so warm.
I could imagine someone younger than I would look great wearing a not-mohair version at a cocktail party, bar, or other venue. But in 70% mohair?
On the one hand knitters should be able to figure out you can substitute yarns. On the other hand, why suggest something like mohair in the first place?
