First, voting is closed for the contests. Thanks everyone who voted!
I had initially planned to post winners today– but that was when I also said I’d close voting on the 30th. Then I goofed and posted that the voting would close the 31st. I didn’t have time to tabulate today; I never do things like tally on weekends, so I’ll be doing that Monday or Tuesday. I’ll post by Wed.
Second, I’m bummed out!!! Magknits published their September issue and there is absolutely nothing to write a haiku about! Nothing!
I mean, look at the tank to the left. What am I supposed to say?
Absolutely fine.
Curvy women will love it.
Darts improve the fit!
Yeah… that “poem” achieves the 5-7-5 pattern for a haiku. But, it just doesn’t do anything for me!
What else will you find in the issue? “Honorine”, a short sleeve top that is just interesting enough to knit, has a nice neckline and appears flattering. A decent t-shirt like top with waist shaping and a pretty motif on the hem, several pairs of socks, some pretty wristlets and an acceptable scarf. The scarf looks like it isn’t reversible, but that’s hardly comment worthy.
Oh, and they have a perfectly nice pale green basket weave baby bunting, which might be described this way:
Bunting for baby.
What color should I select?
Green is always good.
I guess in principle, I could run one of these on “Cute Thursday”.
But really. Cute thursday is for sort of “cutey pie” things. The baby bunting is fine, but it’s just a perfectly normal bunting new parents will likely find useful.
And I know they will find it useful because, I was hoping to find some horrible flaw — like a baby bunting knit from hand spun hand dyed yarn hawked by the designer. So, I clicked to read details. What did I discover? 50% microfiber, 50% viscose from Lana Grossa, which means knitters should be able to find the yarn. (Or substitute and get a similar look.)
Now, if I were more normal and just looking for patterns, I’d probably think it was a nice issue. But…. well… you know… What can I say?
Oh well.
I’ll just have to hope Knitty shows us something like knit nose warmers or fake underarm hair. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope for the best.

You could write a haiku on how the baby thing was modeled on a doll — it was really creepy!
