Knitting on the machine is faster. However, this particular pattern can't be knit on the machine because one of the "cool" things is it's seamless and circular. It's also in a stitch that is difficult (or impossible) on most machines.

I generally develop hand knit patterns containing elements that are either difficult or impossible on a machine. I don't know about other people who both knit by hand and machine, but I would really get impatient if I kept thinking " I could just zing this out on the machine."

I do notice Sonja over at <a href="http://www.fusionknitting.com/>fusion knitting"</a> likely has the same attitude. All her hand knit stuff would be difficult or impossible on the machine. Her machine knit stuff would take forever by hand.

But, I still get impatient!

The sweater looks great! I have never had the nerve to use a knitting machine. I bet it knits up much faster on a knitting machine.
