What a bargain!

dolce and gamba dressDolce and Gamba sold ‘knit’ dresses like these for $2975?

So says this ad on ebay! What else does the ad say?

  • “Vogue named this the “Ultimate Rock Star” dress of the season, and it was worn by several celebs including Naomi Campbell.” (Well, I believe that!)
  • “considered a “couture” piece, they are in extremely limited production and all knit by true artisans.” (Note: a) it’s crochet. b) anyone who crochets could knock this off just looking at it.)
  • “…it must have taken AGES to knit .” (Ages? Hello! Big crocheted holes! )
  • close up of 'knitting'

  • “..it’s a silk & viscose mix”. (For nearly $3000 it should have been made from spun gold!)
  • “It’s extremely stretchy so it really molds itself to your body and flatters every body shape.” (They must mean every body shape up to size 6!

The “Buy It Now” price is a mere $145. That’s certainly less than the claimed original price. Still, if I wanted one, I’d buy thread and crochet one in my size!

  1. Oh yes, AGES and AGES. Fishnet mesh is SO HARD!

  2. Hey, are you going to make one? Do you like the “show my underwear ” look?

At ebay, they showed a min-version worn over a “no-bra” model. Frankly, it looks like a bathing suit cover worn over a topless bikini! But marketed as a bathing suit cover, they probably would get $500 tops even from the “Rock Star” crowd.

  3. I think they charge extra for holes and I think the style only works for people who look good naked.
