Someone will knit this
using bulky weight wool yarn.
That someone will sweat.
In my imagination the design process went something like this. Vogue sent the designer a letter saying:
Dear Twinkle,
Please create a cute youthful design with the following characteristics:
- Description: Sleeveless mini-dress.
- The stitch gauge: Less than 2 st/inch.
- Total weight of yarn: About 4 lbs.
- Fiber: Wool.
Enclosed please find yarn for project.
Sincerely,
Vogue Knitting.
Poor Twinkle dutifully complied, whipped this up overnight, mailed it back and waited for her meager commission.
That’s what I imagine when I see the design. The reality must be different; this sweater appeared on the runway as part of the Twinkle fashion collection.
By the way, Amazon.com lists her yet-to-be-published book “Twinkle’s big City Knits” to be available in 2007.
Do I even need to tell you this appears in Vogue Knitting, Fall 2006?
