Is that my grandma?
Wearing a her best babushka
and stout walking shoes?
Everytime I see this photo display I wonder what these three were supposed to be up to.
Do they think they are dressed as Russian peasants preparing for a picnic? Did Russian peasants wear lace up rubber boots to picnics? Maybe they getting ready to muck out the barn? If so, why wear hand knits, nice new trousers or a voluminous skirt? Do any women (other than nuns) wear delicate nylon hose with heavy walking shoes? How is she going to keep mud off her shoes and hose when she helps muck out the barn? Is that a drop cloth on the floor?
Yes, it’s another costume-y layout from McCalls Needlework and Crafts, July / August 1983. Not that there’s anythign wrong with that.

You failed to ask what I was thinking - why is she arm in arm with one bloke, and dragging another one behind her? Does she think the basket carrying man can’t see around the staples or something?!

There are soooo many questions one could ask! To me, she’s holding the second man’s hand the way you’d hold a 6 year old crossing the street.

Obviously you have never been to Germany. Delicate hose and stout walking shoes are all the rage. Don’t forget the leather trousers…

Maybe I have a dirty mind but they look like they’re on their way to do something naughty.
