Yep, the shrug is cute. It would look nice over a sun dress, skirt of slacks.
It’s just funny flipping through that issue and seeing about four pages of “costume-y” layouts side by side. Some of the items are individually perfectly acceptable to nice. It’s just the photo layouts that are funny.
(That said, funny layouts can be fun.
)

Are you sure that’s her father? He looks to be some sort of crazy-leader-of-bizarre-cultish-sect. Which provides for 3M (multiple marriages @ menstruation). {{shudder}}

I kinda like the fish sweater. Yes, he does look like a dork with the waders on but the sweater is still cool.
Then again, I’ve been known to buy anything at all that has wacked out fish on it for my dad. hehehe
