I ran out of yarn! I ran out of yarn!
This has never happened to me before! I only have the two front bands and the button band to knit. I could unravel the swatch and have enough for the front bands, but that doesn’t leave enough for the button band.
I guess I’m driving into Chicago. I’ll have to search for matching or complimentary yarn for the bands. I hope the store has matching yarn, but I’m very worried they don’t. If I’d seen a larger cone, I would have bought it.
Do you think the sweater will look ok with contrast bands? Maybe in a color that matches the dark chocolate flecks? I can always unravel the ones I’ve already attached. Afterwards, we can all pretend I didn’t run out of yarn and the whole idea was brilliant and intentional? Ok?
I also promise myself to never, ever, ever buy 14 ounces of yarn for a sweater no matter how much I like the yarn. One more ounce would have been enough. I need to buy a full pound minimum. I also promise myself to weigh the swatch and run a yarn estimate even if writing the extra lines of code to write the estimator is a nuisance. I was just so nervous about whether or not the whole “sideways raglan” idea was going to work at all, and eager to find out.
I know from the preliminary try on, the sweater fits Jim wonderfully. But, I’m out of yarn! Sigh.
Well, if you live near Irving Park Road in Chicago, and you see a woman who looks like me carrying huge bags of yarn today, you’ll know that’s me.
