I’m going to make him:
Sheik Ali-ba-ba-bear-bear.
Prince of the Palace.
At knitclub, Cathy always asks if I ever write haikus about obviously good or cute knits. I always tell her I do. She asks, “What fraction?” I’ve never actually made a tally, but I estimate 6%. This bear may make it 6%.
This bear designed, knit and named by Betty Simonson of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin won 1st place in McCall’s Needlework and Crafts Teddy Bear contest; The knit cutey appeared in the June 1989 issue.

The patterns for the contest winners weren’t in the magazine. They were available for $1.25 as “Leaflet 1423 for Knit Bear Winners” and “Leaflet 1424 for Crochet Bear Winners”. One was to contact
“Reader Mail, Dept. A689,
McCall’s Needlework & Craft, 6th floor
825 Seventh Ave, NY, NY 10019-6001
Unfortunately, McCall’s doesn’t seem to publish these magazines anymore, so I have no idea where you could get the leaflets. Good luck!
