Well, I started Jim’s raglan cardi.
The two sleeves, front, and back are to be knit in one piece, and I just coded my “at home” generator. I was a bit nervous that I’d start knitting and something would be severely wrong with the procedure I thought out. So, I was tempted to start a cardigan for Colocha, just to test out the directions. Finally, I just bit the bullet, and cast on for the manly, manly sweater.
Luckily, although it’s all in one piece, I’ve had no difficulties so far. (Knock on wood.) The only part requiring concentration is shaping the lower sleeve and the shoulder at the same time. But, that’s no more difficult than shaping shoulders and a neck at the same time on a standard “knit from the bottom sweater.”
I suspect, if this works, it’s going to become a favorite sweater shape (of mine at least). The next cardigan will be for me. (Heck, the next one may be knit in that super gaudy yellow-multi color yarn like the table runner I showed yesterday. Then, I might knit a solid color tube top to wear underneath.)
As for Jim’s sweater: I’ve reached the center back , which means I’m half way around on the “main piece”. The sweater takes on a very weird shape while on the machine because the front, back and raglan seams are all fused together as you go. I took lots of photos, but many look unbelievably strange, so I’m only showing a picture up to the end of the neck line shaping. Looks like a neckline like, right? That’s all done with short rows.
I’m crossing my fingers. Wish me luck with the second half of the sweater!

I just use mattress stitch, and then pull! I’ll have to get my husband to take a picture sometime and illustrate it. I find it much easier than mattress stitching sides. I don’t know why!
