Barbara Shawl Pattern Calculator.

Hand Knit Shawl: BackYou’ve found the calculator to create a pattern to knit “Barbara”, a simple pie wedge type shawl. The calculator lets you imitate my design exactly or if you want to substitute another yarn and knit at another gauge, you can enter your own values.

The pattern directions here will be brief. If you need a tutorial for knitting the pattern, click any of the “read series” buttons below!



Enter Gauge Information
To obtain an accurate pattern, you must knit a garter stitch gauge swatch with an attached edging then enter
values here.
Enter your stitch gauge in garter stitch. Stitch Gauge:

Enter your row gauge in garter stitch. Row Gauge:

Measure then enter the width of your edging. (See figure below.) Edging width:

Number of edging stitches. (This box is provided just in case you get advernturesome and decide to change the type of edging. The edging for Barbara is 8 stitches wide as indicated in the box.) Edging stitches:

Shawl dimensions

Design Your Shawl
Enter the total length (or radius) of your shawl; see figure above. Shawl length is a matter of personal preference. I recommend a length of 7″ to 9″ for a 14″ doll and 28″ to 34″ inches for a full grown woman. (The Lorna’s Lace Pie Wedge Shawl Pattern is 28″ long.)

  2. I was just browsing by and enjoying and to my pleasant surprise I find a reference to my design, the Pie Wedge Shawl! Nice, thank you. I have had many, many knitters show me theirs and they vary in size greatly, even following the same pattern!
    Great job on all of your generators!
