Here’s how I finished knitting the armholes on my mirror vest.
![]() Stick needles through lives stitches and pick up some stitches at underarm. Try to make sure the needle only goes through garment yarn and doesn’t go through the waste yarn. (It’s easier to pull out if it doesn’t accidentally go through both.) Because I used crochet cotton, I found I could fold the work along the garment and the waste yarn and poke the needle through easily. |
![]() Cut waste yarn at ends, and intervals along the knitting. Pull waste yarn; you may be able to just pull the whole waste yarn strand out with one yank. However, if necessary snip the waste yarn to make it easier to pull out the stitches. Occasionally, you may need to pick out some stitches with a knitting needle. |
![]() Knit a few rows of garter stitch. Because garter stitch tends to spread, you should reduce a few stitches on the long armhole edges. I also reduced a bit in the inside corners to prevent a fabric build up there. |
![]() Voila! Armhole with garter stitch trim. |
